Getting Nostalgic

Today I had the strange experience of taking a journey and visiting three different time periods from the past. My first stop was 1890, then 1950 and finally 1920.

To be honest it was a little tricky to tell the difference, well to me anyway, as I don't really have a trained eye for such matters. The only difference that I could discern were the posters on the wall. The style of the adverts was the thing that helped to identify the different ages.

Now, I wouldn't blame you for imagining that I had somehow stumbled upon a time machine and that the journey I took today was a journey in the fourth dimension. Unfortunately it was not quite as exciting as that. I had in fact taken a trip on a steam train. The train stopped at three different stations all designed to represent three times in the railways rich history.

Sitting on the train today the carriage reminded me of the trains that I used to ride when I was a lad; the springy seats, the slam doors, the windows that pulled down and the ash trays the flicked down depositing their contents on the train floor. The ticket I was given today was a small rectangular piece of cardboard exactly like the tickets I used to be given when travelling on the train on a Saturday night in my youth. It made me feel a little old and nostalgic for those days when life seemed easy, uncomplicated and empty of responsibility.

It also made me ponder that age old question.

"If you had a time machine and could only travel back in time in your own lifetime, which part of your lifetime would you travel to and why?"

I would really like to hear your ideas.

Remember any interaction and you could inadvertently change your future, maybe even resulting in a paradox crisis. Moreover if you encounter your younger self this may result in a collapse of the time space continuum.
