At the roundabout take the third exit...
The GPS SatNav system has become so common place in the last couple of years. For some new cars this now comes as standard and if not most smartphones utilise this as standard or as a paid App.
The secret to these systems is to trust their directions most of the time. I say most of the time because these devices don't know everything. They don't have real time intelligence. They can't see that a road has been closed or for sons reason converted to a one way zone. They can't see the flood or the fact that a tractor is cutting the hedges down the single track road.
When I am a passenger in a car and it is my job to navigate I have the map out. This helps me to check where I am and to second guess the SatNav system.
Today I was in a car and as it wasn't mine I was sadly devoid of a paper map being left to the devices of the relatively poor Maps on my iPhone. This put me at a serious disadvantage. The SatNav had one over on me. I decided to deliberately ignore it and unfortunately we had to, 'make a u-turn at your earliest convenience'.
And to be fair it got us there. We arrived at our destination.
I still don't trust them completely...
